Preparing to Go!

I'm preparing to go! I'm looking forward to my upcoming journey. I look forward to meeting new friends and helping people that need it! I've been preparing by emailing people in Nairobe, contacting other volunteers that will be with me during my stay and former volunteers that have done similar work in Africa. I've received my immunizations ("ai..ai..ai"). I've gathered information about Nairobe and I've started to learn Swahili. Although I am nervous because of so much of the unknown, I look forward to all the adventures I will have! I know I'll learn a ton in the next 6 months and I look forward to sharing it with you as often as I can!

Hi Renee,

Glad you met my sister! She tells me that you two are having a blast there! Boy, you are really in the rural part of Kenya huh? My sister told me about the toilet and I had to giggle..wish I could have seen your face when they showed it to you! Well, enjoy yourself and look forward to viewing the photos of the kids. And yes, those matatus can be scary! To the drivers, they are NEVER full! Take care!

Nene-
We ladies all miss you so much! It's been only a couple of weeks, and it seems like forever. My own African adventure is moving forward at a snail's pace at this time, but I guess if it was meant to be, it'll happen. Kid- take good care of yourself. Do you have a mailing address yet? If so - is it safe to send care packages, or won't they make it to you? Love those children for all of us, will you? Much love to you -
